Renee Leonard Kennedy found that what she most wanted had been with her all her life. Her name.

Born Joyce Renee Leonard and called Renee, she only recently discovered that her names combined mean “Joy Reborn,” a fitting picture of her journey from darkness to light and from doubt to delight. Her writing grows out of a desire to share the joy she has found and to inspire others to reclaim their own joy amid life’s challenges. Drawing on her faith and her experiences, Renee writes non-fiction and fiction that guide the joyless toward becoming joy-filled.

Renee’s mission is to be honest, to address difficult topics, and to show the often lengthy path to redemption. Her motto, “Joy Reborn,” sums up that message. She challenges readers to question conventional wisdom and embrace truth, believing that spreading joy lets us positively impact those around us and leave a legacy of hope and restoration.

Renee is a woman of many passions. An entrepreneur at heart, she’s always working toward new goals. She loves writing and reading, and she is constantly seeking to grow in her craft. But that’s not all that fuels her fire.

Every day, Renee walks the farm’s fence line with her trusty dog, Tinkerbell. Cultivating planting areas around her hay mow and enjoying the glory of a sunset rank among her most cherished times of day.

When she’s not working on her next book or writing project, you’ll likely find her ballroom dancing, savoring a meal with loved ones, or giving thanks for the blessings in her life. Through her writing, Renee shares her journey and invites others to pursue their own passions. Renee’s gratitude extends to family, friends, strangers, and the wisdom found within the pages of books. Her diverse family, made up of blended, birthed, and adopted children spanning generations, is her most cherished blessing. She is dedicated to nurturing the entrepreneurial aspirations of her adult children and to praying for their spiritual growth.

Her multi-award-winning nonfiction book, After the Flowers Die (End Game Press), was released two years ago and continues to offer vital encouragement to those navigating the arduous journey of loss and renewal.
